Education:
Good general education, to A’Level or equivalent vocational qualifications. To include basic experience of Microsoft office applications, specifically Excel and Word.
Work Experience:
Experience in a manufacturing business and a shop floor environment. It would be preferable that the experience was gained in an automotive environment dealing with braking and or other transmission products, although experience in other sectors where a lean manufacturing philosophy existed is acceptable.
Job Purpose:
The successful applicant should ensure that the business goals are deployed to the shop floor, specifically HS&E, quality and output. Each of these is seen as key deliverables. The role's primary requirement is to create a successful team, through training then monitoring performance, effective communication, support, and encouragement.

Specific Duties General:
1. Review the working area to ensure that so far as possible, that the environment is safe – if not report potential problems.
2. Support the administration and deployment of risk assessment and verify the Safe Systems of Working.
3. Overseeing and assisting the Developing Team Leader in the day-to-day activities of a particular production team.
4. Ensure that there is sufficient cross-training to maintain continuity of production.
5. Review processes and make sure that operator instructions such as Work Instructions are correct, available, and serviceable.
6. Check that the correct tooling is available at the workplace, that it is serviceable and appropriate to complete the job to the expected standard.
7. Ensure that all gauges used in the cell are correctly calibrated.
8. Monitor production against targets, review gaps and work to ensure that targets are met consistently.
9. Manage holiday requests – within the prescribed framework.
10. Manage overtime with developing team leader – which means minimizing the cost whilst meeting customer expectations.
11. Support the company objectives through a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
12. Encourage participation of all employees in any improvement activity.
13. Support team manager and perform management duties when manager is absent or out of office.
14. Provide encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new training or skill checks.
15. Assist management with hiring processes and new team member training.
16. Communicate future plans for ongoing raised targets and required manning.
17. Develop strategies to promote team member adherence to company regulations and performance goals.
18. Conduct team meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations.
19. Generate and share comprehensive and detailed reports about team performance, mission-related objectives, and deadlines.
