In this role, you will engage with all phases of solution delivery, from the initial concept and requirements gathering through to design, build, testing, and deployment. By gaining a deep understanding of business objectives, processes, and supporting technologies, you’ll ensure successful project outcomes.
Operating within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, your responsibilities will include designing detailed technical specifications and leading discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This role is central to driving technical innovation across multiple business-critical projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Define Solutions: Develop and own technical specifications, translating business needs into user stories or functional documentation with clear acceptance criteria to guide development.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Build trusted relationships with business and technical stakeholders, subject matter experts, and external partners to ensure alignment on project goals.
* Requirement Elicitation: Partner with business users to identify their needs, analyse processes, and gather requirements, ensuring solutions are both efficient and scalable.
* Technical Oversight: Collaborate with developers, architects, testers, and external vendors to evaluate solution options, ensuring that both functional and non-functional requirements are met.
* Development Support: Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to technical teams throughout the development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
* Testing & Quality Assurance: Support testing efforts by reviewing outcomes, troubleshooting issues, and conducting root cause analyses to address defects effectively.
* Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process and system improvements to drive efficiency and maximize value for the business.
Skills and Experience Required:
* Proven experience in gathering and documenting requirements, producing technical specifications that are understandable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Demonstrated ability to organise and facilitate workshops to explore challenges, refine requirements, and design effective solutions.
* Experience working with third-party software and technology vendors.
* Strong expertise in systems integration, including designing and reviewing APIs using REST and/or SOAP protocols.
* Hands-on experience working with complex software applications or enterprise systems such as CRM or ERP platforms, with the ability to develop a deep understanding of system functionality.
Desirable Skills:
* Familiarity with database structures; experience writing SQL is an advantage.
* Prior experience in the insurance or financial services industry is desirable.
* Knowledge of cloud-based architecture and services, particularly Azure, would be beneficial.
