Do you have a background in building and delivering catering excellence?
We are looking for someone who will take our Hospice Catering to the next level. We want to continue and build upon our internal offering to our patients, their families, and our team at the Hospice and expand and build an external income-generating catering business.
You will work with and have overall responsibility for our established internal catering team. You will build upon our income generation ideas and grow and develop new income generation opportunities, making Wakefield Hospice the go-to catering solution.
The role is predominantly Monday to Friday with the required flexibility to work weekends and evenings as necessary.
JOB SUMMARY
* Delivering the ongoing development of external catering initiatives for the purpose of income generation. These will include external catering, the catering trailer, and new, yet to be agreed, projects of the future.
* Key to the success of the post will be the introduction and evaluation of new menus, and the practical implementation of efficient operational systems.
* It will be essential to demonstrate due regard for excellent food hygiene, quality, and safety issues.
* The post holder will be expected to develop new and successful catering offerings and initiatives to generate income for the hospice.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Review, upgrade, and provide excellence in catering for patients and patient families.
2. Review, upgrade, and provide excellence in internal catering for staff.
3. Review and develop new catering opportunities to generate income.
4. Review and generate income from the Hospice's Chapel Bistro.
5. Responsible for the overall management of the catering team.
6. Ensure a balanced dietary and nutritional service for our patients and service users.
7. Support, coach, and manage the Catering Manager to deliver the vision.
8. Demonstrate an adaptable response to customers and situations presented to you.
9. Maximise the use of external catering opportunities including the Munchkin.
10. Manage, monitor, and agree on the catering budget.
11. Source and use fresh local ingredients negotiating best rates, discounted/free produce.
12. Deliver excellent catering in accordance with hygiene standards.
13. Explore and develop catering opportunities to provide income generation.
14. Ensure that all hygiene and food safety standards are met.
15. Develop and deliver food excellence that will attract and retain customers.
16. Full understanding of dietary needs and allergy understanding.
17. Ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are practiced in all hospice catering venues at all times.
18. Support and work alongside the catering team, volunteers, managing and motivating them to ensure maximum productivity.
19. Work with the budget ‘spend and income’ guidelines to ensure that hospice catering businesses generate sufficient contribution to meet their targets.
20. Identify and enhance profitability and review catering trends.
21. Carry out any other duties which may from time to time be requested in the interest of the Hospice, including working at cash-generating initiatives designed to strengthen our position within the local community.
22. Work collaboratively and creatively with the Hospice catering team to maximise opportunities.
23. Develop the Wakefield Hospice brand and income for the hospice.
Qualifications
* Catering qualification level 3.
* Food hygiene level 3.
* Full UK driving license.
* Proven supervisory experience in a catering environment.
* Strong team management and leadership skills.
