About Us:
Mary Hare educates 200 profoundly deaf children at its residential school in Berkshire, and we pride ourselves on our pupils’ achievements at GCSE, A Level as well as B Tech and Vocational Courses. We offer the opportunity to teach highly motivated children, in small classes, where you can make a real difference at this national centre of excellence for deaf education. No knowledge of sign language is required, as we follow an auditory/oral philosophy.
The Role:
The Housekeeper, reporting to Head of Housekeeping and Housekeeping Supervisor, will work as part of a team to perform a variety of regular and one-off cleaning tasks and duties as directed by their supervisor/line manager. Mary Hare is a very successful, well-presented, and well-maintained school along with other business’ such as Arlington Arts and Summer School.
The Housekeeper will provide a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the school and business whilst working both in small teams and individually.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ensuring the cleanliness of your designated area and for maintaining high and consistent standards
* Take initiative to perform cleaning and tidying tasks that are not specifically contained within the rota but require attention as part of maintaining overall high standards
* Liaise with Head of Housekeeping, Housekeeping Supervisor and other members of staff as required to ensure the cleaning rota operates smoothly
* Report cleaning supply requirements and stock levels to the Head of Housekeeping or the Housekeeping Supervisor
* Ensure Health and Safety, quality, and general procedure compliance
* Work as part of a team and support other members of the housekeeping team to meet standards and school objectives
* Report any Health and Safety issues to the appropriate persons
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations as they relate to the operations of cleaning equipment and the dilution of cleaning materials
* Knowledge of COSSH and the safe use of chemicals
Desirable:
* Knowledge of cleaning best practices
* Awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice within an education setting
Skills & Personal Qualities:
* Tactful and discreet, whilst mindful of observing Safeguarding and professional standards
* Representing the school in a positive manner
* Reliable and stable
* Reasonable physical fitness
