Murphy are recruiting for a Head ofo lead the central Data Analytics & Reporting team in ensuring they understand the data and reporting needs of the business, Lead a team responsible for data accuracy and security via efficient data management and reporting systems. This role will provide leadership and support, assisting in establishing and delivering formal reporting arrangements, maintaining the business’s data architecture, and ensuring strong change and governance controls. The role will liaise with Senior IT and Business Stakeholders to drive strategic alignment and ongoing improvements of the platforms and outputs..
What You’ll Be Doing
* Manage the day-to-day activities of the team responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Murphy data and reporting platforms.
* Work as part of the Senior IT Leadership Team to understand broader Business and IT Strategic goals, helping create and align an appropriate Data and Reporting strategy and roadmap.
* Develop systems, procedures and polices for data management, work closely with cross-functional teams to identify data needs.
* Monitor and manage Azure subscription costs, as they relate to the Data Platform, to drive value in investment and maintain spend within IT budgetary constraints.
* Support with the design and oversee creation of the Murphy business data architecture.
* Ensure the integrity of business reports and system interfaces fed from the Data Platform and associated ETL processes run smoothly, as designed.
* Responsible for the provision and availability of data platform environments, CI/CD pipeline deployments and code branch release processes.
* Maintain strong and clear governance around the use of PowerBI across the organisation.
* Responsible for ensuring appropriate documentation is produced and maintained for the data & reporting platforms, ensuring agreed Murphy best practices and standards are followed.
* Work closely with wider IT Team to drive improvement of and maintain Murphy best practices environment infrastructure.
* Awareness of, and support embedding and applying revised Data Governance and Information Security standards and best practices.
* Ensure the Data Team maintain information security best practices business-wide to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of company data, systems, and infrastructure.
* Contribute towards the continuous improvement of business-wide, data related best practices and governance.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with Senior Business Stakeholders and System Owners to help manage business demand and expectations.
* Work closely with the IT Project teams, where appropriate, to design, develop and oversee implementation of Data Platform related change, applying lighter IT Project controls when self-delivering.
* Plan the allocation of resource in conjunction with IT Project Teams.
* Liaise with and leverage supply chain to support the ongoing development and maintenance of the Data Platform;
* Provide tactical and strategic input to the Technical Design Authority (TDA), as designs matters relate to the Data Platform.
* Maintain a strong understanding of technological advances in Data and Reporting to support intended business outcomes and or bring additional business benefits.
* Drive knowledge and skills sharing across the IT team and Business around the Data Platform & Analytics.
* Provide support to the IT Core Team were deemed critical by the IT Director.
* Develop a high performing team capable of supporting Murphy business strategy.
* Establish a culture of continuous service improvement within the Data & Analytics team, challenging the status quo, in a positive and effective manner.
* Establish ways of working, develop objectives and design / maintain effective workflows and operating procedures for Data & Analytics processes that are clearly defined, up to date and documented.
* Set clear strategic vision for the Data & Analytics function, ensuring it is clearly communicated to all team members, Group IT and key business customers.
* Team development and learning, enhancing performance, develop structure with clear career paths and opportunities.
* Attending Murphy sites to engage with stakeholders, team members and the wider IT team.
Who We Are Looking For
* Knowledge of system and data structures in Dynamics365 Finance and Operations.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Data stack, including Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Azure SQL and Azure Purview.
* Worked experience using both Agile and Waterfall project delivery methodologies.
* Working knowledge of ETL processes and data ingestion.
* Experience suing SQLDBM.
* Demonstrable experience developing and managing an effective Data Architecture.
* Hands on experience with Python and/or Scala.
* Background and understanding in T-SQL and the use of serverless synapse notebooks
* Experience with construction processes and applications.
* Clear understanding of Data Analysis within PowerBI
* ITIL Foundation
* Experience managing PowerBI configuration and governance
* Solid experience of Software Development and Application Lifecycle Management principles (SDLC & ALM).
* Knowledge and practical experience working with integration services (eg LogicApps and API integration services).
* Demonstrable experience with Visual Studio and Azure DevOps toolsets.
* Good working knowledge of Cyber/Information Security.
* Demonstrable experience of leading and developing high performing teams, with a minimum of 3 years working in an IT Leadership role
* Good communication and engagement skills, with a track history in effectively managing the relationship between IT and business stakeholders.
