Associate Director - Community Mental Health - Bromley

The role as Associate Director of our community Mental Health services in Bromley provides the perfect opportunity for a dynamic leader to make their mark. There is a wide range of services within the portfolio and plenty of service development to really make a lasting impact.
The postholder will also have responsibility for leadership of the development of our older peoples mental health services, and so we are looking for someone who can demonstrate a passion in this area.
Main duties of the job
The postholder has responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the Directorate and must ensure Directorate performance and financial targets are met. They are an integral member of the Directorate Management team, and they will drive and be accountable for the successful achievement of Bromleys strategic objectives.
They also have responsibility to ensure strategic objectives are in line with and contribute to the successful delivery of the Trust Strategy. They have full responsibility for the operational management of their span of control and must ensure all performance and financial targets are met or improved.

Job responsibilities
1. Bring together a large number of dispersed and diverse services and teams and create a quality-focused culture that fosters innovation and delivers consistently excellent care.
2. Ensure the achievement of and improvement on all required service objectives, targets, and standards.
3. Lead the development and completion of tenders for new and existing services including the development of new models of delivery of care.
4. Achieve financial targets ensuring the efficient and effective use of financial, staffing, and physical resources.
5. Lead the development and delivery of the annual integrated business plan for their span of control.
6. Effectively lead the management team in their span of control and ensure there is a focus on what needs to be achieved, and how this will be done.
7. Provide inspirational, compassionate, and facilitative leadership to all staff within their span of control.
8. Maintain effective partnerships with external stakeholders, including Local Authority, GP groups, Clinical Commissioning Groups, acute care providers, and the voluntary sector.
9. Ensure there are effective systems, policies, and procedures to manage clinical and non-clinical risks and maintenance of an up-to-date risk register.
10. Maintain and develop effective systems for learning from adverse incidents and complaints and embedding subsequent changes in practice and procedures.
11. Ensure all services within the span of control comply with statutory obligations and codes of practice.
12. Ensure optimal use of clinical and management information to inform the efficient use of resources and delivery of high-quality services.
13. Lead and sustain a workplace culture that ensures dignity and respect for all service users and their carers.
14. Ensure there are effective systems, practices, and skills in place for the recruitment, deployment, supervision, career development, performance management, and appraisal of all staff in the span of control.
15. Ensure excellent communication systems and necessary relationships are in place, so staff are involved in decision-making and informed about those decisions.
16. Ensure there are effective systems in place to support the meaningful involvement of patients and carers in service development and delivery.
17. Participate in the senior manager on-call rota.
Leadership
This is a leadership position and the post holder will be able to work autonomously in decision-making forums. The post holder will command the authority and have the confidence to work independently with senior staff in other agencies, including representing the Trust in London-wide/national forums.
The postholder will be able to:

The post requires an exceptional standard of written and verbal communication skills. The post holder effectively will communicate complex information to a range of people, including senior staff in the Trust and other agencies, clinical/practice staff, users, carers, and other stakeholders.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Masters level Degree or Equivalent in a relevant Healthcare related subject.
* Evidence of related training and qualifications.
Experience
* At least five years experience in a healthcare setting including NHS experience.
* At least three years senior management experience.
Supporting evidence
* Demonstrates an understanding of the complexities of a senior leadership role.
* Evidences their passion and/or experience of older peoples Mental Health services.
* Shows an understanding of the current environment for Community Mental Health services.
