Job Title: Contracts Supervisor
Location: Tandridge, Surrey
Salary: £33,000 per annum, plus use of a company vehicle
About the Role: Our client is looking for a skilled Contracts Supervisor to lead their Grounds Maintenance team in the Tandridge District, with responsibilities across housing association properties, community green spaces, and urban areas. This role requires an individual with a strong operational focus, ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with health and safety standards. You'll supervise up to 10 team members, oversee daily operations, and support on-site activities when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Supervision and Management: Lead and support a team of up to 10 staff, including team leaders, to deliver grounds maintenance services. Oversee day-to-day operational tasks and assign work duties in alignment with project schedules.
2. Scheduling and Task Allocation: Develop and maintain work schedules on an annual, monthly, weekly, and daily basis. Ensure all tasks are prioritized, completed on time, and meet quality standards.
3. Training and Toolbox Talks: Conduct regular training sessions and toolbox talks to educate team members on safety protocols, task requirements, and best practices for grounds maintenance.
4. Quality Assurance and Inspections: Audit and inspect completed work to ensure it meets specified standards. Manage any additional tasks beyond scheduled maintenance, making sure quality and timeliness are maintained.
5. Stakeholder and Client Communication: Act as a liaison between the team and various stakeholders, including clients, customers, and housing officers. Handle queries and provide regular updates on project progress.
6. Health, Safety, and Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Conduct routine risk assessments and inspections, taking immediate action to address any safety concerns.
7. Equipment and Resource Management: Ensure that the team has access to the necessary tools and equipment, and oversee maintenance and repairs as required. Efficiently manage resources and stay within budget constraints.
8. Operational Support: Assist with on-the-ground tasks as needed, including the use of horticultural machinery and equipment. Occasionally support inspections of playgrounds and assist in the management of council tree stock.
Required Skills and Experience:
* GCSE-level education in Maths and English (or equivalent)
* Previous experience in a Grounds Maintenance supervisory role
* Strong leadership skills and the ability to adapt communication style to different individuals
* Organized with excellent time management and administrative skills
* Health & Safety qualifications, such as IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent, with knowledge of risk assessment procedures
* Full manual driving license (with trailer towing is a plus)
* A relevant horticultural qualification is preferred; willingness to undergo additional training is also considered
