Job summary We are excited to be able to offer the opportunity to join the neurosciences therapy team here at Kings College Hospital. As part of this dynamic team, you will assist the physiotherapists and occupational therapists to maintain a high standard of patient care by undertaking delegated clinical programmes of management and administrative duties to support the functioning of the neurosciences therapy department. Rehabilitation Assistants do not hold a professional qualification, and as such will work only under the direction of qualified therapists. You will be supported through a comprehensive period of induction and training, approximately three months, to achieve required competency to perform all aspects of this post. As part of this role you way be required to work weekends and bank holidays. Main duties of the job You will be working across the inpatient wards alongside qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. You will be expected to carry your own caseload of patients and provide the pre- prescribed treatment plans, utilising a variety of basic physiotherapy/occupational therapy techniques including mobility and exercise programmes. You will also assist therapists in treatment sessions for those patients who require more than one therapist for support. You will be working with patients of varying ages and social and economic backgrounds, so will need to use a variety of communication skills and techniques to help you build rapport with your patients. Non clinical aspects of your role will include: provisions of walking aids, taking messages, documentation and other administrative tasks.
