The Role
Tameside Children’s Services launched the Social Work Academy in autumn 2024. The aim of the Academy is to help increase the quality of support that is offered to families in the borough, ensuring children are at the heart of everything.
The Academy is designed to bring a thorough 36-month programme of high-quality learning and development for newly qualified social workers, who will be supported by experienced practitioners within children’s services.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Practice Educator who is committed to providing nurturing support to our future Social Workers. As a full-time Practice Educator, you will support both undergraduate and postgraduate Social Workers, as well as offering reflective supervision to our Social Workers and Team Managers who are aspiring and qualified Practice Educators.
The Social Work Academy pathway recognises that staff are its greatest asset and will provide good supervision and management support, with opportunities for learning and development. The training will align newly qualified staff with experienced colleagues, building on social worker retention and providing future career development for those that have completed the training.
About You
You will be a qualified social worker and qualified Practice Educator. You will have a passion for supporting our future workforce, their learning and development, and recruiting and supervising other practice educators. You will make and maintain excellent links with higher education institutions who utilise the service and the wider Greater Manchester Social Work Academy.
