The students in this setting have high mental health needs and need support with regulating, processing, and understanding their emotions.
The role as a Mental Health Assistant entails:
1. Your main role and responsibility will be to support the students in the classroom with staying on track with their school work.
2. Facilitating therapy with the students and tracking their progress.
3. Helping them access their education using their tailored intervention plan.
4. Facilitating an engaging learning environment where they will have the opportunity to fall in love with learning.
Day-to-day tasks as a Mental Health Assistant may include:
1. Helping keep track of students’ progress.
2. Maintaining an engaging, clean, and tidy classroom environment.
3. Assisting the class teacher in managing behavior.
4. Setting up for lessons.
5. Facilitating and assisting with specific interventions.
The perfect Mental Health Assistant will be:
You will ideally have some experience working with children in some capacity. You must be patient and proactive. Enthusiasm is essential, as these children need encouragement and support to reach their goals. A DBS certificate is required, or you must be willing to apply for one.
