This is an exciting time to join us in Cancer Services at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. For this role we are looking for a well-motivated self-directed person with an interest in cancer care and haematology. You will be responsible for scheduling known Cancer patients for treatments and therapies specific to their diagnosis. The successful candidate will require excellent communication skills as you will be contacting patients and relatives directly over the telephone.
This is a key role with specific responsibilities to support the chemotherapy nursing team in providing the patient with a planned structured treatment schedule.
Receive referrals and record their return on computer systems. Identify referral marked urgent and appoint appropriately. Record pathway from referral to treatment.
Track referrals that have not been completed appropriately and follow with consultants to identify actions required.
To meet weekly with the day care unit managers ensuring that they are fully aware of any issues arising.
To support members of the MDT in ensuring smooth administration of patients along their chemotherapy pathway.
To liaise with the secretaries over patient bookings and to make appointments where necessary as agreed with the day care unit managers.
Ensure that all relevant notes and patient information are returned to the relevant departments / hospitals and clinicians.
Provide administrative support to the day unit managers as required.
