Job overview
The post holder will support the delivery of direct and indirect healthcare for patients attending the integrated contraception and sexual health (iCaSH) service which is part of Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS). This may include supporting patients who present with sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, contraception requirements and/or any other sexual health related problems.
This role will include working as part of the health advising team including clerical duties, not limited to management of the results notification system, vaccinations, booking appointments, follow up recalls, and support of service users in person and on the phone.
Main duties of the job
1. To welcome patients and obtain relevant personal and clinical details as appropriate treating all such information as confidential.
2. Assist in the management of the recall system for patients that require follow up. To receive, prioritise and deal appropriately with referrals from local stakeholders in the form of letters, emails, and telephone calls.
3. To operate the stand-alone bespoke computer-based Lilie patient administration system in its entirety including booking appointments, registering patient details, sending texts, coding clinical episodes and supporting data collection.
4. Assist the nursing team with other duties where workload allows and with prior agreement of the Clinical Nurse Manager.
5. To operate additional computer-based systems such as the online testing platform for the purposes of patient communication, follow up, and data collection.
6. Support the Health advisers in partner notification processes, working within the iCaSH Health Adviser Handbook guidance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To be non-judgemental to all client groups regardless of age/ethnicity/religion/sexuality/gender identity.
2. To undertake non-clinical duties in support of the admin team, for example undertake call taking and reception cover including 0300 number answering, and or general patient and non-patient administration.
3. To read, interpret and understand the clinical records of individual patients and be able to accurately action test results. To work with the medical and nursing staff, supporting them with the recall of patients to ensure safe and timely follow up.
4. Following training, and once signed off as competent, to act as a chaperone and assist nurses/doctors to undertake intimate examinations/procedures and or sexual health screening on patients.
5. The post holder will interact face to face, on the telephone or on online testing message platforms daily with members of the public and patients. They will deal appropriately with all queries to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
6. Ensure that all negative clinical pathology results received are prioritised and actioned appropriately and to contact patients to inform them of results, arranging follow up if necessary.
7. Where required by the service participate in outreach and support health promotion events when requested.
8. Following training, provide phlebotomy for patients attending the service.
9. Following training, undertake, read and interpret microscopy slides as directed by clinicians and appropriately document and communicate the associated findings, if required by the clinical service.
10. Following training and being deemed competent to do so, administer prescribed vaccines in accordance with service guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures, if required by the clinical service.
11. Hold the Care Certificate and deliver the associated standards of care or undertake the training at the earliest opportunity upon recruitment to post.
Person specification
Qualifications and Training
* Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or willingness to undertake/complete.
* Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths).
* Sexually Transmitted Infection Foundation (STIF) course – Core.
Experience
* Experience of working in a health care environment and or with the public.
* Advanced keyboard skill and ability to communicate through IT using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook for purposes of data entry and analysis.
* Experience of working in a busy, demanding environment within a team.
* Recent experience of working in a sexual and reproductive health service or equivalent.
* Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience working with electronic patient records.
Skills
