Abbey Electrical (Swindon) Ltd is one of the companies under the umbrella of Abbey Group Services Ltd. We are a leading and growing Electrical, Fire & Security and Renewables contractor based in Shrivenham, near Swindon. With further plans for expansion and thanks to our continuous growth, we are now looking for an additional Electrical Contracts Manager to join our excellent team and to work alongside our established project managers.
This role will involve contribution to the development and growth of the department. With further plans for expansion, you will be responsible for hiring and managing Electricians, running tendered projects, pricing smaller projects, overseeing projects from start to finish, and driving business growth of this division.
Job Description:
1. Managing multiple projects from initial enquiry to client handover
2. Targeting potential clients & bringing the work in
3. Overseeing a wide variety of work (Domestic, Commercial, Industrial)
4. Assisting and supporting our Administrators with any job-related queries they have
5. NICEIC registered QS - to be able to complete NICEIC certificates
6. Supporting engineers as required
7. Developing engineers and completing their appraisals
8. Client liaison and attending meetings as required
9. Surveying work ahead of producing quotes (larger projects will be priced by our Estimating department)
10. Pricing smaller projects. For many of these there will be no drawings, specifications and limited information. Assess requirements, develop solutions, quote work.
11. Producing job related documents such as RAMS, NICEIC certificates and O&M files
12. Recruitment and management of labour including sub-contractors. You shall have overall responsibility for building and then managing your team of engineers
13. Managing cost, understanding of margin and profit
14. Working to monthly financial targets
15. Quality control
16. Health & Safety of engineers
17. Willing and able to complete all tasks associated with your job role
18. The role includes Admin support but full understanding of all tasks is important
19. Professional telephone manner
Personal Requirements:
1. Driven with strong attention to detail
2. Able to work under pressure. You shall need to bring enough work in to keep your engineers working
3. Financial targets exist with this role. Hitting these is critical to the business
4. Flexible approach. We frequently have deadlines to meet. This does introduce a need to sometimes work longer hours or go the extra mile
5. Happy to travel to sites (normally not more than 1.5 hours). This travel may be in addition to the normal working hours
6. Genuinely willing to support all types of work of all sizes
The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified Electrician with project management and leadership experience in a similar role, that has a knowledge of everything Electrical related, to expand and grow our division further.
