Be-IT are working with a well-known Scottish Organization to recruit a Data Privacy Analyst on a full time, permanent basis. This role is based in Glasgow with hybrid working.
Reporting to the Data Governance Manager, the Privacy Analyst will be instrumental in safeguarding our valuable data. You will collaborate with colleagues across various business units to offer expert data privacy advice and guidance. Your efforts will ensure that data is used effectively, enabling us to achieve business objectives quickly while adhering to Group policies, our strategic goals, and the governance framework
The role:
* Serve as a Data Privacy Subject Matter Expert, providing advisory support in line with UK GDPR and DPA 2018 across the organization and its subsidiaries.
* Ensure data privacy is integrated into new product, project, and technology change processes, offering guidance and challenge to ensure compliant delivery of new business initiatives.
* Work closely with the broader Data Governance, Risk, and Compliance teams to identify, manage, and mitigate privacy risks and incidents.
* Contribute to the creation and delivery of data privacy training and materials to support our network of data champions, while promoting data protection awareness throughout the business.
* Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of the existing data management and control framework.
* Partner with the Data Governance Manager and key risk stakeholders to help develop data quality policies and standards, ensuring a "privacy by design and default" approach is maintained.
* Support the creation of reports and management information (MI) for Data Councils, Data Management Working Groups, and relevant forums.
* Collaborate with the data privacy champion network to help update and maintain the Record of Processing Activities registers and Group retention schedules.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Strong background in data privacy and protection, with a solid understanding of UK GDPR, PECR, and DPA 2018 frameworks (willing to work towards CIPP/e certification).
* Capable of supporting diverse projects while delivering solutions efficiently and at pace.
* Proven experience in driving privacy and data protection process changes.
* Ability to understand the broader role of Data Privacy within the context of Data Governance.
* Well-informed about key industry developments impacting the regulatory landscape, including AI and data ethics.
* Skilled in clear communication and effective influence at all levels of the organization.
* Collaborative mindset, focused on supporting best-in-class data governance and fostering a privacy-first culture.
* Solid understanding of data privacy issues related to enterprise-wide technology (e.g., outsourcing, cloud applications, and AI).
* Experience in control assessments, testing, and MI reporting and analysis.
* Able to contribute to the design and implementation of policies, standards, guidance, and tools in an accessible and engaging way.
