Software Development Engineer, IMDb Entertainment Data & Discovery – Contributors

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join our Contributors team. This role is integral to the development and maintenance of systems that facilitate user contributions to IMDb's vast entertainment database. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing and modernizing our contribution platforms, which include both modern and legacy systems leveraging Amazon technologies in frontend and backend.

Key job responsibilities:
1. Designing and implementing features across multiple systems to improve the user contribution experience in a wide variety of technologies, such as API services, web applications, and mobile apps.
2. Owning customer-facing features through the entire life-cycle, from design, implementation, testing, deployment, and into production.
3. Balancing long-term solutions with immediate needs while maintaining high standards for our code and customers.
4. Ensuring operational excellence for reliable, secure, and performant systems.
5. Collaborating with cross-functional teams (UX Designers, Product Managers, and other Software Development Engineers) to deliver comprehensive solutions.
6. Mentoring and supporting the growth of other engineers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Full stack software development experience (Java/React/HTML/CSS/TypeScript/JavaScript) and strong object-oriented design skills with an understanding of common design paradigms.
