Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust
An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic individuals to join our wonderful Portering and Security Team as we are looking to expand our efficient and high quality service here at Broomfield Hospital, therefore enhancing and improving the service offered to all our patients, visitors, and staff.
You will also benefit from flexibility as these posts offer a variety of shifts including nights and weekends, and we are happy to discuss Full Time and Part Time offers. Previous experience of working in a portering/security role within a hospital environment would be an advantage, but not essential as we offer full training and support for all our staff.
If you enjoy socialising with a variety of people or prefer an active role rather than an office job, then we are looking for you!
Main duties of the job
You will be a vital member of the MSE team, undertaking several different roles which include transportation of patients, specimens, goods, blood products, medical gases, and equipment around the site to facilitate the smooth running of the clinical departments and the hospital.
The job is physical in nature and includes the transportation of patients by wheelchair, patient trolley, or bed, internally and externally. You will be working with patients, so experience of working in a service environment is needed and requires good communication skills.
You will need to have the ability to respond to emergency calls in a calm and professional manner. The role also requires you to undertake mortuary duties, including the movement of bodies from wards to the mortuary in a courteous and sympathetic manner.
