Job Summary
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of individuals battling addiction? Do you have the drive to empower people to rebuild their lives and achieve their full potential? If so, KIKIT Pathways to Recovery invites you to join our dynamic and dedicated team as an Addiction Recovery Support Worker.
KIKIT is a leading BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) recovery service based in the heart of Birmingham. We are committed to delivering culturally sensitive and effective support to individuals from diverse backgrounds who are on their journey to recovery from addiction. This is more than just a job—it's an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause, engage with the community, and be part of a team that is passionate about fostering positive change.
Responsibilities:
1. Personalized Support: Provide one-on-one support to individuals from the point of entry into our service, throughout their treatment, and as they transition into recovery. You will be their advocate, guide, and source of strength as they work to overcome addiction.
2. Psychosocial Interventions: Deliver tailored psychosocial interventions that address the unique needs of our service users within the community. Your work will help individuals build resilience, develop coping strategies, and reclaim control over their lives.
3. Outreach and Engagement: Conduct proactive outreach across Birmingham to engage with and register vulnerable individuals from hard-to-reach communities. Your efforts will bring hope and opportunity to those who might otherwise slip through the cracks.
4. Integrated Partnership Working: Collaborate with a range of partnership agencies to deliver an integrated, holistic service. You’ll work closely with mental health professionals, social workers, housing services, and other key stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for our service users.
5. Follow-up and Retention: Proactively follow up with service users who miss appointments to re-engage them in their recovery process. Your persistence can make all the difference in keeping someone on the path to recovery.
6. Social Reintegration: Support service users in their journey towards social reintegration, helping them to build a meaningful, purposeful life post-recovery. You’ll promote recovery, resilience, peer support, and self-determination, empowering individuals to thrive in their communities.
Who We’re Looking For:
1. Substance Misuse Expertise: Have a strong understanding of complex substance misuse and homelessness issues, with experience working in a similar field.
2. Excellent Communication: Be an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing. You should be comfortable engaging with people from all walks of life and have the IT skills necessary to maintain accurate records.
3. Proactive and Organized: Be proactive and able to work on your own initiative, managing your time effectively and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
4. Mental Health Knowledge: Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and best practices.
5. Team Player: Be a supportive and collaborative team member, capable of working in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and stakeholders.
6. Adaptable and Resilient: Be flexible and able to manage change successfully, always putting the needs of service users first.
7. Commitment to Learning: Be committed to continuous learning, both for yourself and for others. You should be eager to expand your professional knowledge and contribute to the development of your colleagues.
8. Caseload Management: Be capable of managing a small caseload of vulnerable service users, conducting comprehensive assessments, and delivering personalized care plans.
