Split Teaching Assistant - Reception & Year 2 (Great Barr, Sandwell)

Aspire People are looking for a compassionate and adaptable Teaching Assistant to support two pupils with additional needs in a primary school in Great Barr, Sandwell. This split role requires a dedicated and nurturing individual to provide 1:1 support across both Reception and Year 2.
The Role:
1. Morning: Working 1:1 with a non-verbal pupil in Reception with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). This will include:
1. Providing personal care (the child is still in nappies).
2. Using alternative communication methods to support interaction.
3. Creating a nurturing and sensory-rich environment to enhance learning.
2. Afternoon: Supporting a Year 2 pupil who is working at a lower learning level and requires assistance with speech and language development. This will involve:
1. Encouraging communication through structured activities and interventions.
2. Providing tailored academic support to help them engage with the curriculum.
3. Helping to build confidence and social skills.
The Ideal Candidate:
1. Experience working with PMLD, SEN, or speech & language difficulties.
2. A patient, caring, and understanding approach.
3. Comfortable with personal care responsibilities.
4. Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or sensory-based learning strategies (desirable).
5. A proactive and adaptable mindset to support different needs across the school day.
