Ground Worker Specialist
We are seeking to appoint a Ground Worker Specialist at South & City College Birmingham. The role involves leading the delivery of training to general construction operative trainees and apprenticeships, supporting the College's aims to provide high-quality education and training aligned with industry needs.
In this role, you will deliver training in essential construction skills, including steel fixing, basic formwork, drainage systems, kerb laying, modular paving, excavating, and new road and street works. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of new training materials and ensure all program materials align with quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, plan, and deliver training and assessments for general construction operatives.
* Update training materials to meet current industry standards and legislative changes.
* Conduct risk assessments and oversee equipment maintenance, ensuring safety and quality standards.
* Monitor learner progress, set improvement targets, and provide feedback.
* Maintain compliance with college policies, including safeguarding and health and safety regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Certificate in Education, PGCE, or equivalent (or working towards qualification).
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Operations.
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
* Demonstrable teaching experience and ability to support and assess learners in construction skills.
