Job Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Newport, Gwent (NP20) Job Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday 08:30 – 15:30) Salary: £12.90 per hour Job Description: A lovely primary school in Newport are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a pupil who has a diagnosis with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). The successful candidate will need to have strong communication skills and have the ability to develop strong relationships with others. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the pupils to develop their social, emotional and academic development. You will work closely with the class teacher and ALNCO (Additional Learning Needs Co-Ordinator) to ensure the pupil is working towards their individual targets and will assist in reviewing regularly. Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to pupil with ASD within the classroom and during break and lunch time Develop and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with the pupil, parents and school staff Implement the pupil's IEP and contribute to regular reviews and updates Work closely with the ALNCO to identify and address any areas of need or concern Support the pupil's transition between lessons and activities Assist with preparing materials and resources for lessons Maintain accurate records of the pupil's progress and achievements Requirements: Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs Ability to build strong relationships with children and adults Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organisational and time management skills Patience, understanding, and empathy when working with children who may have challenging behaviours Essential Requirements: A Child Only DBS Certificate that is registered on the Update Service Registration with the Education Workforce Council 2 Professional Based Employment References If you are interested in this position and wish to apply then please apply with the most up-to-date CV and a member of the team will be in touch should you reach requirements for short-listing.
