Job summary We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant to work alongside our established team to provide excellent care to our patient population. You will assist medical personnel in the care of practice patients, including treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education. You will act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the primary care team. The role is for 25 hours a week. However, flexibility is essential as you will also be requested to cover for holidays and sickness. Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant in General Practice or another busy clinical environment is essential. Nursing New patient registration checks NHS Health Checks ECG BP monitoring Urinalysis Phlebotomy Assisting with seasonal vaccination campaigns as required Provide lifestyle advice Weight monitoring Spirometry Ensure clinical waste and sharps bins collection runs smoothly Restocking/maintaining equipment and clinical areas 2. Administration and professional responsibilities Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the Practice team Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation Attend and participate in Practice meetings To create and send recall letters for clinics Ordering and display Health Promotion materials 3. Management of medical records Ensure that phlebotomy requests are accurate Ensure all patient details are recorded in the correct format in the correct patient record 4. Management of appointment system Ensure total familiarity with appointment systems Book appointments and recalls Monitor flow of patients into the waiting room 5.
