Main duties of the job
* Demonstrates effective leadership, providing appropriate advice and guidance to members of the team.
* Nurture, guide, develop and train ward staff, through informal and formal approaches.
* Provide personal, professional and clinical development to staff through PDP, supervision and honest and transparent feedback on performance.
* Monitor practice standards of the whole team, formally and informally and give honest feedback and advice to staff. Identify action plans to address individual weaknesses of staff members.
Undertake thorough assessments of care needs developing detailed and relevant care plans. On a planned basis, uses appropriate evaluation techniques to assess the effectiveness of packages of care, which have been offered.
Positively encourage Service User involvement in all aspects of service delivery.
Ensure that the development and maintenance of an effective system for assessing, managing and minimising levels of clinical risk.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* RMN Degree /Diploma
Experience
* Approximately two years (or more) post graduate mental health work and experience in acute settings.
Skills
* Able to demonstrate high level of understanding of, and practical ability to perform, clinical and professional supervision.
* Advanced skills in clinical risk assessment of people with acute mental health problems.
* Skilled in building collaborative relationships with Service Users.
* Able to work consistently under pressure, with good prioritisation and time management skills.
