Casual Night Support Worker
Yeovil, Somerset
Flexible Work, hours to suit you
Pay £12.00 per hour, and offer great benefits
Home, a place where you belong
Have you been looking to earn some extra cash, while keeping to your current commitments? Now you can, and what’s more, you’ll be making a difference.
In this rewarding position you'll combine elements of practical day to day support for customers who have some quite complex backgrounds and support needs, with housing security and concierge duties. Each day brings new opportunities to positively impact our customers lives.
Our customers live within one of 5 buildings and have their own accommodation within these. Most of the accommodation buildings are within walking distance of each other but one is a little further away. Our team help them to develop and maintain independent living skills, so that they can successfully move on to their own independent accommodation.
A typical shift will involve
• Working with customers who are street homeless or who are experiencing difficulties maintaining their accommodation and carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
• Taking the lead on health and safety within out buildings, patrolling to ensure fire doors are secure and all areas are safe, clean and well-maintained.
• Acting as first point of contact for customers when their support networks aren't available. You'll respond to incidents and be able to think on your feet.
• Building meaningful connections with customers through cuppas, chats and collaborative problem solving.
Rest assured that wherever you will be working, we will support you all the way! You'll go home each day knowing that you have helped change our customers lives for the better, here at one of the top 10 Great Places to Work in the UK.
You bring
• Experience in caring roles, either professionally or through personal circumstances, such as supporting family members or children.
• A calm, resilient approach with the ability to manage challenging situations and work confidently under pressure
• You’re sociable and interested in people and their stories and like getting to know people. You use your people insights and keen eye for detail to spot changes in behaviour.
• You recognise when things are about to go wrong and are confident intervening in a sensitive way.
• A team player with the confidence to work alone. Don’t worry you’ll have the full back up of our wider team including our out of hours emergency support team.
