About the Role
Lockheed Martin is looking for an experienced Assembly Technician Vehicles to join our team on an initial 18 Month FTC (Fixed Term Contract). This exciting opportunity is based from our state of the art 64 acre facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire and benefits from a 4 day working week (Mon – Thu).
You'll be working to strict specifications, procedures, schematics and engineering drawings on projects critical to the MOD. The successful candidate must achieve the appropriate level (SC) of security clearance.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
* Proven experience as a Vehicle Assembly Technician, Armoured Vehicle Technician / Aircraft Assembly Technician, Mechanical Fitter or similar role.
* Ability to complete set ups and perform quality and performance testing.
* Ability to work from written instructions with limited supervision.
* Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy.
* Ability to liaise with the test support, engineering and Quality functions.
* Attention to detail and ability to self-inspect work to ensure quality defects are mitigated.
* Hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting.
* Understanding of “clean as you go”/6S/FOD/Tool control programs mandatory.
* Experienced with quality inspection points and process documentation.
* A very high level of health and safety awareness.
* Must be able to take direction well and is a strong team player.
* Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection.
* Excellent listening and communication skills.
* Excellent organisation skills and problem-solving skills.
