Deputy Charge Nurse/Sister - Emergency Department

Due to promotion within the department, opportunities have arisen for the right candidate to work as a Deputy Sister or Deputy Charge Nurse within the Emergency Department at Poole.
There is 24/7 Sister cover in ED, so the Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse will be supported in their role and will be working alongside a Sister/Charge Nurse who has ultimate responsibility for the department.
The applicant must have two years' experience within an Emergency Department and demonstrable clinical acumen.
Please note: if this post requires you to have a DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the role, on appointment you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed from your salary.
This role requires: NMC Registration/ Diploma or Degree in Adult or Paediatric Nursing
Base Location: Poole Hospital (with expectation to work cross site when required)

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for flow through the Emergency Department and the Urgent Treatment Centre, providing rapid assessment of the patients on their arrival both via ambulance and walk-ins. They will also be expected to take part in management of staff on shift, development of staff and also would be expected to be an exemplar of good clinical practice within ED.

There is a planned move for this service anticipated during December 2025, when this role and base of work will relocate to Royal Bournemouth site. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance/reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder's home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.

Person Specification
* Ability to undertake additional skills as required.
* Implementation of evidence-based practice.
Experience
* Minimum of 3-4 years post registration experience.
* Evidence of shift management.
* Experience of leading, motivating, and supporting a team.
* Ability to manage change.
Qualifications
* NMC Registration.
* Diploma or Degree in Adult or Paediatric Nursing.
* ALS/EPLS.
