Role Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Engineering Supervisor to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our welding and fabrication manufacturing facility at our main office in Maydown, Derry/Londonderry. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising a team of welders and fabricators, ensuring high-quality standards, maintaining a safe work environment, and meeting production schedules. Your leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to safety will be crucial in driving the success of our workshop operations.
Duties
1. Team Leadership & Supervision: Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of welders and fabricators in our engineering team to ensure productivity, quality, and safety standards are met. Provide training and guidance on welding techniques, safety practices, and production processes.
2. Production Planning & Coordination: Plan and prioritise daily and weekly work schedules to meet project deadlines. Ensure the workshop operates efficiently.
3. Quality Control & Inspection: Ensure all welded and fabricated components meet quality specifications and adhere to industry standards. Conduct regular inspections and tests on completed work, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
4. Safety Management: Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
5. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Resolve technical issues and challenges related to welding and fabrication processes. Work closely with the production team to identify process improvements and implement solutions to increase efficiency and quality.
6. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any issues encountered. Provide reports to management on production status, personnel performance, and any material or equipment needs.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as engineering, procurement, and quality control, to ensure seamless integration of fabricated components into larger projects.
Qualifications:
1. Experience: Engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role (preferred but not necessary).
2. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in welding processes such as MIG and TIG welding. Experience with fabrication/engineering reading and interpreting technical drawings.
3. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team. Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster a collaborative, productive work environment.
4. Certification: Welding certification and other relevant industry qualifications are preferred or management or supervisory qualifications.
