Nightingale House Surgery are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, hardworking, and highly motivated receptionist to work in our busy GP Practice. Good IT skills are essential along with excellent communication and compassionate customer service skills.
The position is full time 30 hours per week.
Applicant must be flexible and available to work early or late evening shifts to cover holiday and sickness when required.
Training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensuring that patients are made to feel at ease in the surgery and treated with politeness, dignity, respect, courtesy and sympathy but with firm and direct handling.
2. Making appointments both in person and over the telephone.
3. Receiving, recording and passing of messages both in person and over the telephone.
4. Maintaining patient confidentiality and the confidentiality of the business at all times.
5. Opening and closing the premises in line with procedures.
6. Ensuring patients are aware of surgery procedures, particularly new patients.
7. Using the computer for repeat prescriptions and recording patient contact in the computer record.
8. Dealing with hospitals regarding patients appointments.
9. Handling of specimens in line with surgery procedures.
10. Covering colleagues during holiday, sick leave and any other absences.
11. Processing patient change of details.
12. Collect Results GP links Emis tasks - online requests and sorting out errors and problems.
13. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
About us
Our practice list size is about 6668. We have 2 GP Partners, Dr Dapo Abidoye and Dr Yokefah Chong, and 2 salaried GP Dr Equi Ajogbe & Dr Mohammad Kashem.
We have an experienced Practice Manager, Farhaanah Begum.
Other Health Professionals include 2 Nurses, 1 Physician Associate, 2 Clinical Pharmacists and an in-house Phlebotomist.
We are supported by a friendly team of administrative staff including a GP Assistant and a Medical Secretary.
Job responsibilities
1. Ensuring that patients are made to feel at ease in the surgery and treated with politeness, dignity, respect, courtesy and sympathy but with firm and direct handling.
2. Making appointments both in person and over the telephone.
3. Receiving new patients and assisting with the completion of forms as necessary.
4. Receiving, recording and passing of messages both in person and over the telephone.
5. Maintaining patient confidentiality and the confidentiality of the business at all times.
6. The filing, amalgamating, renewing as necessary of patient paper notes.
7. Opening and closing the premises in line with procedures.
8. Helping patients to access services/ signposting patients to the correct services.
9. Ensuring patients are aware of surgery procedures, particularly new patients.
10. Filing correspondence and results, entering results, and making sure patients are contacted, giving results as per surgery policy.
11. Dealing with correspondence regarding recalls and such other matters as may from time to time be required.
12. Using the computer for repeat prescriptions and recording patient contact in the computer record.
13. Dealing with hospitals regarding patients appointments.
14. To assist in the tidiness of the surgery, to ensure a clean, safe and tidy work environment.
15. Secure processing and sending of email/post as required.
16. Handling of specimens in line with surgery procedures.
17. Covering colleagues during holiday, sick leave and any other absences.
18. Processing patient change of details.
19. Collect Results GP links Emis tasks - online requests and sorting out errors and problems.
20. Undertake online and face-to-face training appropriate to your role as required.
21. Any other reasonable tasks required of you.
