Summary of Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Aseptic Manufacturing Technician to join our pharmacy team. The post holder will assist in ensuring that Aseptic Services are delivered in a safe, effective, economic and timely manner. We are offering a competitive salary for this post; Year 1 £26,618 with Year 2 Salary rising to £27,164 per annum inclusive of London Weighting.
The London Clinic’s Pharmacy Department is a close-knit team with around 45 staff members. The Pharmacy department comprises of 9 core services: On Call, Dispensary Services, Distribution and Top Up Service, Procurement, Clinical Ward Pharmacy Services, Provision of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), Aseptic/Technical Services, Clinical Governance, and Education and Training.
Job Description
The post holder will undertake a development programme within Pharmacy Aseptic Services through work-based practice and participation in regular training sessions. Supervision and support will be provided during all tasks, enabling the post holder to work within the organisation to gain experience, confidence, and competence to deliver an effective and safe patient-focused pharmacy service.
Pharmacy Apprentices are appointed for a fixed term contracted period, during which time they participate in the general work of the pharmaceutical Aseptic Services Unit (ASU) as a fully operational team member. The post holder will:
* Learn under the guidance, direction, control or supervision of registered pharmacists, qualified technicians, and other pharmacy staff to practice the skills of a production support worker.
* Undertake a course of study and assessment in preparation for professional registration.
* Be required to complete study outside of working hours e.g. completion of college assignments, evidence write-up etc.
* Successful completion of the training programme will lead to a Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 Standard qualification.

Salary: Band 3 equivalent salary range on offer based on skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
* Responsible for ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as current national legislation and guidelines.
* Assisting in the safe, efficient, and accurate aseptic compounding of parenteral products, as well as other relevant duties such as equipment and facility management, environmental monitoring, stock counts, expiry date checking, and general stock management.
* Participate in the safe and accurate manufacturing and dispensing of cytotoxic, hazardous, and monoclonal preparations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) as well as national and local guidelines.
* Proactively assemble trays for doses requiring compounding with appropriate raw materials, consumables and sundries, label and perform in-process checks on prepared products in accordance with pharmacy computer systems and prescription requirements.
* Effectively communicate with more senior staff members to facilitate workload prioritisation and co-ordination within the scope of own capacity and authority.
Skills & Experience
* Computer literate.
* Ability to use own initiative.
* Attention to detail.
* Sufficient manual dexterity to perform aseptic manipulations.
* Knowledge of the principles and practices of health and safety at work and manual handling.
