Main duties and Responsibilities Communication To promote an effective communication system, both written and verbal, which ensures that a team approach to family centred care is encouraged and adopted Enter appropriate data into Meditech in a timely manner and ensure all nurse led screens are completed Participate in relevant departmental meetings and represent the department at Trust wide meetings when appropriate, disseminating information as appropriate. To ensure accurate and confidential documentation is maintained in accordance with the NMC, Trust and departmental guidelines Responsibility for patient/client care Maintain high standards of nursing care and promote an environment suitable for the care of children, ensuring that all planned carefully reflects latest research developments. To assess, coordinate and review family centred care package in partnership with colleagues or senior staff and ultimately without direct supervision. This will include undertaking neurodevelopmental history assessments, EHCP reviews, school observations and Quantitative Behavioural (QB) tests. Actively participate in supervision for junior staff and students and participate in clinical supervision. Ensure child protection issues are acted upon promptly and appropriately. Continuously develop the clinical role in order to be able to work independently, anticipate care needs of patients and actively manage their journey through the Trust. This includes being able to work independently or as part of a team in potentially stressful, distressing or emotional circumstances including life support and assessment. Undertake any other duties as appropriate to the grade as delegated by the Senior Nurse. Comply with all Trust Policies including: - Promotion of Health and Safety in the workplace. Update personal knowledge and skills by attending and participating in study days, conferences and in-service training, including mandatory training sessions to comply with trust and departmental requirements. Achieve personal training needs identified through a yearly personal professional review with your manager. Participate in clinical supervision Identify areas for research and contribute and participate in nursing and medical research programmes. Disseminate information gained from research. Participate in quality monitoring in conjunction with Trusts Clinical audit and department audits.
