The Principle Engineer role provides delivery of Azure solutions and early life support of Microsoft Azure cloud environments for an existing Advanced Managed Services customer. We are looking for a Principal Engineer with experience deploying complex systems to the cloud. You will be a key member of a team of engineers delivering and supporting cloud automation, platforms, services and applications. We are looking for a self-starter, motivated by solving unique problems and using leading-edge technologies to automate builds, deployments & migrations of enterprise solutions to Azure. To be able to troubleshoot and assess workloads, identify dependencies, as well as an ability to review Terraform code to locate imperfections. An ability to work with High Level Designs, engage with peers to determine what is needed and finally document Low Level Designs – either to complete the engineering yourself or to hand over the designs to another engineer within the squad. There will be a strong focus on DevOps, including: Ability to read and understand already deployed code, identifying and correcting non best practise code. Developing version-controlled Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform Conducting pull requests and contributing to peer reviews of engineer’s code Effective Communication and collaboration are essential in this role, you will work closely with a diverse range of internal and external business stakeholders, ensuring continuous engagement and collaboration. Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure within Azure. Exemplify and promote DevOps principles and culture Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources. Support and develop automation solutions to ensure deployment of code efficiently and consistently Collaborate with architects and product owners to develop and understand requirements to create Low Level Designs after performing workload assessments Create clearly written, high-quality documentation, runbooks, deployment instructions, architecture diagrams, white-papers, etc Create and maintain repositories containing environment configuration Research and promote best-practices and clearly communicate the intended solutions prior to execution Enforce cyber security best practices Set the standard for code/document quality and review pull requests of other team members Provide Early Life Support for newly deployed services providing Root Cause Analysis and resolution of incidents Follow ITIL standards including Change Control and Peer Reviews Assist with ad-hoc tasks as required to support wider business plans and initiatives. Have a customer-centric attitude, with extensive experience working in a client-facing environment.
