Overview
London Marathon Events (LME) is seeking a dynamic Marketing Director to lead our participant acquisition, engagement, and retention strategy. In this senior leadership role, you will work closely with the Digital and Technology team to ensure a seamless participant experience. You’ll be accountable for filling events with target audience segments and achieving revenue goals.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will manage five teams: Marketing, Creative, Content, Social, and Video production, and collaborate with the Group Communications & Public Affairs Director. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will contribute to the London Marathon Group’s (LMG) VMOSA.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering omnichannel marketing campaigns, a passion for inspiring activity, and the strategic insight to influence at the highest levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Marketing:
* Develop strategies to fill LME events, ensure charity places hit target, and deliver KPIs on the TCS London Marathon ballot.
* Lead omnichannel campaigns, partnerships, and influencer relationships to drive participant acquisition, engagement, and retention.
* Grow the LME database, increasing size and diversity.
Brand Development:
* Strategically develop LMG brands (LME, LMF, and LMG) across owned channels and earned media.
* Amplify partnerships with CEOs of LME acquisitions and partners (Run4Wales, Maverick, Caledonian Concepts, etc.).
Owned Digital Channels:
* Oversee strategy and annual plan for social channels and websites to boost visitor/follower acquisition and engagement.

With excellent leadership and collaboration skills, you will inspire teams and cultivate strong relationships with partners and influencers. Your exceptional communication abilities allow you to clearly convey insights and recommendations to diverse audiences.
