Summary of the Role
This role is based within the Corporate Governance Risk and Assurance team who are the functional and corporate lead for Risk Management and Assurance in DIO, providing guidance, support and leadership to business areas and projects on risk management, as well as leading the risk and assurance reporting processes to DIO governance committees and the Defence Board via Defence Risk and Assurance (DRA) and the Secretariat function to the DIO Security, Risk & Assurance Committee and any other Corporate Risk & Assurance forums as deemed suitable.
You will report to the Corporate Governance Risk & Assurance Manager (SEO) and support the work of the wider team and the deliverables of the Corp Gov Risk & Assurance DH & Corp Gov Risk & Assurance AH. You will be expected to multi-task, deliver under tight timescales and be accountable for ensuring you, working alongside your colleagues adhere and conform to all DIO TLB process and operating procedures, alongside being role models in wider business, Fraud, Fleet Management and project risk management.
As part of the Corp Gov Risk & Assurance team you will be exposed to all elements of risk management, including a number of specialist areas, such as Project Risk, Compliance, Fraud (primary role for the first 12 months) and White Fleet; whilst supporting the maintenance and insight into DIO’s strengthening assurance and control environment; which includes the identification of control weaknesses (through Compliance Checks, DIA Audits and other means) which threaten successful delivery of DIO’s outputs in accordance with MODs and DIO internal policies and processes. This will support the delivery of Departmental reporting requirements (e.g., Annual Assurance Report (TLB and Function), Quarterly Performance Report, Fleet Management activity (including the move to Net Zero emissions) etc).
The work you deliver will play a vital role in the decision-making process at the strategic level and you will need to be comfortable with engaging with a wide range of stakeholders in the support of maintaining the Assurance Framework and driving continuous improvement across the whole risk management environment, including being able to hold appropriately challenging conversations with the support of senior managers.
