Assistant Site Manager required for the main contractor on a new build £65 million commercial/industrial scheme in Surrey until 2027.
The role will start from an already demolished site and will involve all the groundwork, structures, and fit-out across the scheme over the next 26 months, including steel-framed buildings, associated car parks, and office space.
My client works nationally on industrial, retail, education, and leisure schemes ranging from £10 million to £100 million and has several ongoing schemes in early stages.
The ideal candidate will be part of the team reporting to the Project Manager and will be responsible for their own section of works throughout the project. This includes programming and planning of works alongside daily, weekly, and monthly team meetings with both subcontractors and clients as required.
In managing your particular subcontractor packages, you will ensure that the subcontractors are working to target and safely, enabling your Project Manager to deal with the client's representative regarding programme changes, updates, issues, and technical queries, thereby keeping the project on track while driving site safety and quality.
You will be supported by the established Project Manager and Contracts Manager, working together to deliver the scheme safely, on time, and within budget. Experience in coordinating and managing both construction and fit-out teams across the project, with updates to the short-term programme on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, is essential.
Requirements including certificates and qualifications:
1. Civil engineering background.
2. Experience delivering fast-paced steel-framed commercial projects.
3. Up-to-date CSCS, SMSTS, and First Aid certifications.
4. Experience managing health and safety and overseeing projects from initiation to completion/handover.
This is an immediate start for the right suitably qualified candidate, with ongoing work and the opportunity to continue on subsequent projects for the rest of the year. Current growth indicates that security of work is very likely.
