A unique opportunity requiring a dynamic and astute finance professional capable of bringing both the rigor and insight needed to deliver effective financial management whilst also possessing the flair and creativity to manage and further develop a broad range of enterprises both on and off the Estate. The most compelling of which being the establishment of a new and aspirational town that will add economic, social and environmental value to the local community and beyond.
THE POSITION
1. As Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Finance Director (FD) of the Cadland Estate, assume a central role in bringing together and maximising the full potential of the family’s commercial interests whilst at the same time ensuring the finance team delivers the full suite of services including insightful analysis, timely reporting and robust cash management.
2. As COO of the Estate, lead an experienced team of professionals across its residential and commercial property, minerals, energy, farming, forestry and leisure enterprises thus ensuring the smooth running of the business, both from a financial and operational perspective. Lead on all aspects of HR, technology, governance and reporting and ensure optimal systems and processes are in place to deliver efficiencies and savings.
3. The appointee’s role will likely be enhanced within 6-12 months of starting to include FD responsibilities for the significant property development that is Fawley Waterside Limited (FWL) which will deliver a new town on the site of the former Fawley power station.
4. As FD of FWL, take responsibility for day to day operations and ensure the development remains on time and on budget. Work closely with key agencies and partners including the Investment Manager on governance and reporting.
THE CANDIDATE
1. A chartered accountant with a well-grounded and broad commercial perspective and an empathy for long-term, family-owned businesses.
2. A confident executive who has the gravitas and communication skills to influence decision-making at the most senior levels and to motivate colleagues across all levels.
3. A determined but modest leader who has a collegiate approach with a willingness to roll-up his/her sleeves in order to support colleagues and deliver the best result.
4. A consummate professional with both an eye for detail and creative streak who cares about creating and supporting a positive and enjoyable work environment.
5. A knowledge of trusts and diverse corporate structures would be advantageous but is not a pre-requisite.
