We are looking for a Herdsperson to join our team in Shropshire .
Our Farm:
We are a well-established Farm which has two different sites including a milking site and a dry cow site for winter with cubicles. Our spring calving happens each year between February and April. We have a mix of Irish Holstein/kiwi cross with 350 milkers and 100 followers. We have a 156ha milking platform (220ha total), with good grazing infrastructure that includes a fast flow water troughs/ track network and electric fencing. We operate with a 16/32 basic milking parlour with in-parlour flat-rate feeders. We also currently have an ongoing contract with the well-known company Arla.
Your role
As a Herdsperson you will be supporting the Farm Manager with day-to-day duties, whilst also taking control of the farm while the farm manager is away. Other roles and responsibilities include:
* Daily herd management and ensuring animal welfare are the top priorities.
* Milking to a high standard as part of a team and ensuring the parlour is kept clean and safe to operate.
* Treating & identifying illnesses and informing the senior team of any observations.
* Keeping basic records and compliance up to date.
* Supporting with dry cow management, calving cows and colostrum protocols.
* Keeping the overall farm tidy and safe to operate.
* General yard work and machine maintenance including fencing and bedding.
Qualification and Licences required:
* UK Right to Work
* Full UK Driving License
* Foot Trimming license preferred
