Our well-established, popular preschool has a vacancy for a deputy manager. This vacancy is for term time only and is for four or five days per week.
We are a friendly church-run preschool, and the values of our church are important to us. We seek to support the whole family and our community. The setting operates term-time only, five days a week. We look after children aged between two and four years old. We are an inclusive setting and often support children with additional needs. Our setting comprises a dedicated classroom area, kitchen, hall, and large garden. The classroom contains children’s toilets and a quiet room with sensory equipment. A large portion of our day is free flow between the classroom and garden or hall.
We have a team of three management: a manager, deputy manager, and assistant deputy. The assistant deputy manages the day-to-day running of the classroom, supporting and planning for the children. Your role as deputy will be to work alongside the assistant deputy in the classroom but also support the manager in her SENCO role, with SEN paperwork and implementation. It will also include monitoring tapestry observations and managing messages from parents. Therefore, the role will be a mix of managerial and in-room tasks, with most of the time during sessions being with the children. You will be part of the management team ensuring the provision is of the highest quality, providing a safe, stimulating, and caring child-centred environment.
The successful applicant will:
* Hold a minimum full and relevant level 3 qualification in childcare as recognised by Ofsted’s approved list of qualifications.
* Have at least three years’ experience working in a childcare environment, including at least one year post-qualification.
* Have at least one year’s experience in a leadership role.
* Have a sound knowledge and understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding, and OFSTED requirements.
* Build strong working relationships with both our families and colleagues.
* Show initiative to work both independently and as part of the team.
* Be dedicated to the care and education of the children.
* Be passionate about being part of the community in Upton.
* Be proficient at using technology.
The successful applicant would be available to work between the hours of 7.30 and 4.30 pm and will be required to attend evening meetings and training sessions as required. The job will include working directly with children and their parents/carers. We operate a key worker system, and you will have your own keywork children. You will be expected to keep your key children’s records up to date. Your role will also include supporting staff with their records and approving them. We are currently using the Tapestry online journal system and Famly nursery management app. You will need to be able to plan activities and help add to and implement our curriculum. The job also includes enhanced cleaning of the preschool and connecting online through videos and meetings. You will be passionate about supporting our children to grow and develop at their own individual pace, supporting and expanding their awe and wonder of the world as they learn.
Benefits:
* A supportive committee and friendly team of staff.
* Commitment to supporting your professional development.
* Enrolment onto the workplace pension.
* Free parking.
* Free tea and coffee.
* Free uniform polo shirts and hoody provided.
Safer Recruitment and Safeguarding:
At least one member of the interview panel has completed safer recruitment training and will be using these principles throughout the recruitment process. Safeguarding is an integral part of our preschool culture, and we are proud of our robust policies. Applicants will need to apply via our application form. No CVs will be accepted. References will be sought for shortlisted applicants prior to interview, one from your current or most recent job and if this isn’t in childcare another must be from your most recent job with children. Due to the nature of the post, each successful applicant will require a new enhanced DBS to be completed and be prepared to go onto the DBS update service or provide details of their enrolment on the DBS update service.
During the application process, should you wish, you are invited to contact the preschool for a tour.
