THE ROLE
As our Lead Mechanic, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our retail store. You will oversee all aspects of our workshop operations, including managing a team of skilled mechanics, ensuring efficient repairs and maintenance of e-bikes, e-mopeds, and cargo bikes, and delivering exceptional customer service. This is a hands-on position that requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for electric vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
* Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of mechanics to achieve performance goals and deliver exceptional customer service.
* Workshop Operations: Oversee all repair and maintenance operations, including diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a wide range of electric vehicles (e-bikes, e-mopeds, and cargo bikes).
* Customer Service: Interact directly with customers, providing clear and concise information about repair status, costs, and timelines.
* Process Improvement: Implement and maintain efficient workshop processes and procedures to optimise productivity and quality.
* Inventory Management: Manage workshop inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels and cost-effective operations.
* Health and Safety: Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations within the workshop environment.
* Reporting and Analysis: Utilise advanced office and fleet management systems to generate accurate reports and analyse workshop performance.
Minimum Requirements:
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar management position within the automotive or bicycle repair industry, with a strong focus on electric vehicles, particularly e-bikes, e-mopeds, and cargo bikes.
* In-depth technical knowledge of electric vehicle components, systems, and repair procedures, especially for e-bikes, e-mopeds, and cargo bikes.
* Proven ability to manage and develop a team of mechanics.
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in advanced office software and fleet management systems.
* A passion for electric vehicles, especially e-bikes, e-mopeds, and cargo bikes, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
* A talent for coaching and developing team members.
* A keen eye for efficiency and process improvement.
