Job Description
Overview
We’re looking for a VFX Artist to join Silent Games, a Double A game development studio based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne with a focus on RPG games that give players a sense of autonomy, mastery and purpose. As a VFX Artist, you will work closely with our 3D Art team to ensure the game's visual effects are optimised and visually stunning. Your role will include creating, implementing, and optimising VFX in Unreal Engine 5, as well as developing tools and workflows to enhance the VFX production process.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with art and development teams to create optimised visual effects that meet technical and artistic standards.
* Develop and maintain VFX pipelines and workflows, including asset creation, optimisation, and management.
* Create and implement tools to enhance the VFX production process, including automation scripts and custom plugins.
* Provide technical support for artists, troubleshooting issues related to Unreal Engine 5, and developing solutions to improve performance and efficiency.
* Work with the programming team to develop and implement new engine features and systems to support VFX production.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends and tools to ensure our VFX pipeline is cutting-edge and optimised for performance.
* Document all systems and processes comprehensively.
Requirements
* Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 and experience working on game development projects using the engine.
* Excellent understanding of game art production pipelines and workflows, including asset creation, optimisation, and management.
* Ability to work autonomously and prioritise work effectively.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
Desirables
* Passion for Action RPG games.
* Proficiency in scripting and programming languages, such as C++, Python, or Blueprints.
* Familiarity with third-party tooling such as Houdini
