Company ALPINE RACING LIMITED Job Description We are looking for a skilled and experienced engineer to join our Wind Tunnel team. In this role, you will be accountable for the building, operation, reliability, maintenance and support of our wind tunnel models and testing rigs. The Role The primary function of the role is to operate, maintain and support our wind tunnel facility, models and test rigs. You will be installing, supporting and troubleshooting the systems in the wind tunnel, in addition to building the mechanical and electrical systems of models and rigs. Part of the role will be to mentor junior colleagues and demonstrate exemplary standards. You will need to be pro-active in encouraging, implementing, and sustaining best practice across all group activities promoting q uality, r eliability and a “right first time” approach. Your responsibilities will include: To proactively ensure all model and tunnel systems are operational to support daily operations around the wind tunnel facility To manage model set-ups and test sequences in support of wind tunnel testing To communicate effectively with colleagues To mentor junior colleagues To follow, create and ensure the upkeep of procedures and guides To maintain an inventory of operational spares for wind tunnel models To undertake routine calibration testing for WT model subcomponents To be pro-active in encouraging, implementing, and sustaining best practice across all group activities promoting quality, reliability and a “right first time” approach To support the Wind Tunnel Manager in achieving core objectives and values Analysis of data pertaining to wind tunnel sub system performance to ensure wind tunnel testing is of the highest attainable accuracy, reliability and repeatability The Person We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, flexible and proactive, with a positive attitude. You need to be capable of working in a busy environment with minimal supervision. Ideally you will demonstrate effective and efficient leadership and organisation of small teams of engineers for projects. You will set and reach high standards of personal performance with a results oriented approach. The right person for the role will be someone committed to constantly striving to improve the wind tunnel facility in all areas, who is able to act professionally at all times while remaining calm and courteous under pressure. This position is factory based with usual hours being 8.30-5.30 Mon – Fri. Some weekend working and cover for holidays and absence may be. A flexible approach to working hours will be needed due to the nature of the position.
