High Street Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly team working at our main site in Cheslyn Hay and small branch site in Great Wyrley.
You will join our existing nursing team consisting of ACP, Practice nurse, HCA & phlebotomist.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in practice nursing, including chronic disease management, asthma, COPD, diabetes, wound care, and vaccinations. We are happy to support training and development needs.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of the role is to work as part of the primary healthcare team providing high-quality General Medical Services to patients of the practice.
To be successful, the candidate must be a Registered General Nurse with experience in general practice and with chronic disease management, immunisations, and cytology. Experience of working with the EMIS clinical system is desirable.

We are a busy semi-rural practice, providing care to a population of 7,500 patients across two sites, in Cheslyn Hay and Great Wyrley, with a friendly, caring, and efficient team of clinicians and support staff.
Job responsibilities
* Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GPs.
* Cytology.
* Removal of Sutures.
* Asthma management.
* Venepuncture.
* Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations.
* Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
* Requesting pathology tests, for example, urine culture, swabs.
* Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception management.
* Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate for the above.
* Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required.
* Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of treatment rooms.
* Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets as instructed by partners and Practice Manager.
* Ordering of any stock and supplies of consumables for the treatment room.
* Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels.
* Participation in administrative systems in the Practice.
* At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records.
* A duty to advise GPs of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks.
* Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
* On occasion, there may be a requirement to undertake home visits.
* Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse.
* Qualifications/Certificates in Chronic Disease Management, Immunisations & Cytology.
* ENB 988 or equivalent.
* A demonstrable commitment to professional development.
Experience
* 2 years post-registration experience.
* Experience of working in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct.
* General Practice Nursing experience.
* Experience of working with EMIS Web clinical system.
* Experience of Microsoft Office software.
* Evidence of CPD.
* Ability to give a high level of care to patients.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Evidence of a working knowledge in the following areas:
o Chronic Disease Management.
o Cytology.
o Wound care.
