A bit about the role As Team Leader you will require a strong background in children's residential care. You'll be responsible for leading a dedicated team, ensuring that we can provide a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for our children. A deep understanding of trauma informed care is essential, as you'll be guiding staff in implementing strategies that support the emotional and psychological well-being of the children in our care. You'll oversee the development and delivery of individualised care plans, fostering positive relationships with children and their families while promoting a culture of respect and understanding. This role demands strong leadership skills, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous professional development to enhance the quality of care provided. About the service Ayton Villa is a residential care home for trauma-informed children they centred around providing a safe and supportive environment for the young individuals in our care have experienced various forms of trauma. Working in such a setting involves understanding the unique needs of each child and recognising how their past experiences may affect their behaviour and emotional well-being. As Team Leader you would guide your staff in implementing trauma-informed practises which focus on building trust fostering resilience and promoting healing. In this environment, you might encounter children who display a range of behaviours stemming from their past experiences, such as a difficulty with attachment, heightened anxiety, or challenges in emotional regulation. Your role would involve creating structured routines and therapeutic activities that encourage positive interactions and help children develop coping strategies. We work closely with mental health professionals to ensure that each child's care plan is tailored to their specific needs, promoting their overall development and well-being. This is both a challenging and rewarding role as you can make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children. What you'll be doing: Let's talk about you. Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We're looking for someone with a ‘can do' attitude to join our team. Ideally, you'll have: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent. The ability to work effectively as part of a team. Provide emotional and social support to children and young people who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties. Provide direct line management to a team of residential staff to deliver high standards of care Leading shifts and supervising staff. Link working with young people (managing paperwork and files). Developing care plans and identifying agreed outcomes. Responsible for the safeguarding of young people. Being an advocate for the wellbeing of the young people.
