We are seeking an Ash Dieback Technical Officer to support the provision of an arboricultural inspection and advisory service for the County Council. In particular, the postholder will be responsible for supporting the Forestry & Arboriculture Group in undertaking an on-going programme of tree inspections and landowner liaison across the County as part of the ash dieback project. About the Role To provide, as a member of a specialist team, technical and administrative support to ensure the day to day delivery of the ash dieback project and wider support as necessary to the Forestry team. To process, maintain and input tree inspection data onto computer systems, use and maintain databases to produce summaries and analysis of information as required. Assist with the preparation of detailed specifications and plans for arboricultural and forestry works, including work instructions, compilation of work schedules, maps, advisory notes and other information required to contact private tree owners. Administer the Council's free tree scheme for ash dieback replanting. Provide related advice as necessary to LCC officers, clients and the general public in relation to ash dieback and the Council's Tree Management Strategy. About You To apply for this post, you must have/be: BTEC National or NVQ 3 or equivalent in relevant subject area or demonstrable experience in a similar technical role. Good IT skills and capable of preparing written reports, specifications and financial estimates. Proven knowledge of data management, analytics and reporting. Principles of project management e.g. PRINCE2, APM etc. Interpret, create and maintain GIS mapping and associated databases to collect and store land ownership records, tree data. Excellent communication and presenting skills. Able to adopt a flexible approach and work to tight timescales and agreed targets.
