Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and meticulous Purchase Ledger Team Leader to manage and maintain our purchase ledger functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial administration and an eye for detail, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in a timely manner. You’ll be an essential part of the finance team, providing support to keep our operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process and verify purchase invoices, ensuring they are accurately matched to purchase orders and goods received notes.
* Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
* Maintain and update purchase ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
* Prepare payment runs, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers.
* Handle supplier queries and resolve issues regarding invoicing, payments, and discrepancies.
* Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes.
* Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and procedures.
* Provide support for audits by gathering necessary documentation related to purchase transactions.
* Monitor and manage credit balances with suppliers.
* Assist the finance team with ad hoc administrative duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Previous experience working in a finance or accounting role, ideally in a purchase ledger capacity.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles and purchase ledger processes.
* Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Xero, Sage, or similar systems is a plus).
* Ability to thrive in a busy, time-sensitive environment while ensuring precision and accuracy in all tasks.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
* High attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with suppliers.
* A team player with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
* AAT qualification or studying towards an accounting qualification is a plus.
* Experience working in a music or education-related environment is beneficial but not essential.
