HGV Driver Trainer

The Driver Trainer will deliver training to the driving workforce, ensuring the highest professional standards and compliance with current legislation. This role supports our business strategy by providing outstanding advice and training.
The candidate;
Previous experience as an HGV Driver Trainer
Full clean C+E driving license
Valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC)/ Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph Card
Level 3 education certificate (PTLLS) or equivalent
SAFED Instructor certification
Driver and Training and Assessment Related qualifications are essential (RTITB, RHA, SAFED and/or equivalent)
Experience in classroom delivery, including DCPC
Confidence and professionalism with the ability to inspire and motivate
Good knowledge of EU Drivers Hours Regulations and WTD
Train the Trainer Qualification/Assessor Qualifications
JAUPT approved training assessor is desirable
Experience with flat beds or walking floors is highly desirable
Ability to influence and being able to communicate at all levels
Highly IT literate
Good communication skills, interaction at all levels internal and external.
Ability to maintain high standards whilst working under pressure
Team player with a flexible 'Can Do' attitude
Duties and Responsibilities;
To undertake assessment of new drivers during interview process
To undertake assessment of circa 50 employed drivers
To deliver driver training program in line with driver CPC requirements and Company program in both classroom and field based environments
To work with the Head of Operations to improve fleet fuel efficiency
To work with the Head of Operations to reduce accident damage
To carry out accident investigation and interview drivers as required
To undertake projects in support of senior management using initiative and thoroughness to deliver a professional standard of work in a timely fashion
To undertake appropriate training and personal development activities
To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required, consistent with the nature and level of the post
To assist in promotion and development of future planned training department initiatives.
To undertake support and training of non-driving colleagues in line with business requirements
Development of Training Course Materials and Driver Handbooks Understand and adhere to Legal Requirements i.e. Health & Safety
Assist in achieving full legal compliance with the Operators License, Health and Safety and Driver Hour Regulations.
Implementing appropriate courses including tachograph, manual handling, fuel management, defensive driving and safety training.
Keep up to date with developments in training i.e. reading relevant journals, going to meetings and attending relevant courses
Reviewing data from the in cab telematics and Tachograph analysis systems including Driver Hour Infringements, MPG, Idling, Harsh Braking/Acceleration and agreeing a corrective training plan.
