We specialise in multiple areas of law including Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Commercial and Residential Conveyancing, Family Law, Private Client, Employment Law, Business and Company Law and Agricultural Law.
Key Responsibilities
* Administrative Support: Assist litigation lawyers with daily administrative tasks, including diary management, handling correspondence, and managing deadlines.
* Typing: Fast and accurate typing skills for dictation and preparation of documents, including legal correspondence and complex filings.
* Document Preparation: Draft, format, and proofread legal documents such as pleadings, witness statements, and court forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with court procedures.
* File Management: Open, maintain, and close case files, ensuring all necessary documentation is properly organised and up-to-date.
* Client Communication: Serve as a key point of contact for clients, responding to queries, scheduling meetings, and updating clients on case progress.
* Court and Tribunal Support: Assist in preparing court bundles, liaising with courts, and organising logistics for hearings and meetings.
* Research Assistance: Conduct basic legal research as directed by the litigation lawyers, helping to prepare for hearings and trials.
* Billing and Invoicing: Assist with time recording, billing procedures, and preparing invoices.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a secretary or assistant working in professional services, ideally at a law firm in litigation or dispute resolution.
* Typing: Fast, accurate typing for dictation and preparation of documents.
* Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook, with experience in using case management systems.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional telephone manner.
* Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, especially when preparing legal documents and managing deadlines.
* Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with the wider team while also handling tasks independently.
