The Service Delivery team comprises five business functions across Operations encompassing four sites and approx. 350 people across the UK. The teams underwrite new and existing business across our Art & Private Client and Professions & Speciality Commercial product lines for our Direct and Broker customers.
Service Delivery Underwriting Team Leader
As an Underwriting Team Leader, you will drive the performance of your team to exceed the key measures set across a balanced business scorecard including behaviours, underwriting quality, financial and operational quality. You will create a supportive and high performing environment for those that you lead through coaching, training and feedback ensuring that your team are clear on their role accountabilities.
You will lead a team of underwriters, providing support to our broker customers. These teams can be split across our UK locations. You will also be part of your department leadership team working closely with the other team leaders to achieve the results desired by the business.
The team plays a critical role in the UK operating model and are responsible for servicing both new and existing customers within a structured parameter.
They work closely with the wider central and regional teams to deliver superb service to our broker partners, growing the business in line with the agreed sales strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the operational and financial performance of the team.
2. Work prioritisation and allocation to ensure delivery of service metrics.
3. Develop and maintain close, effective relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
4. Support the technical development and knowledge within your team through internal framework and CII.
5. Support the delivery of our business and underwriting strategy, driving performance across the team.
6. Deliver the underwriting quality framework including successful audit outcomes.
7. Look for ways to improve the effectiveness of the team, ensuring that a culture of end-to-end ownership is prevalent.
8. Lead and coach your team to ensure their broker and customer interactions are continually developed in line with customer outcomes.
9. Deliver a structured and tailored induction process for new joiners to the team.
10. Strategic input into the running of the Underwriting teams through being a member of the department leadership team.
Person Specification
1. Previous people management experience within insurance would be an advantage.
2. Demonstrable drive, self-motivation, and determination to achieve results.
3. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of relationship management and customer focus.
4. Strong influencing, negotiation, and leadership skills.
5. Team player.
6. Customer obsessed with a focus on continuous improvement.
7. Consistently demonstrates behaviours conducive to achieving both personal and team objectives, in line with the core values of Hiscox.
8. ACII qualification or progression towards qualification.
