Large Molecule Discovery (LMD) is a department dedicated to the discovery of novel and effective biopharma medicines. This department comprises several complementary functions focused on the progression of a portfolio of biopharmaceuticals from initial antibody discovery, expression and characterisation, to molecular engineering and biological and physiochemical profiling. Within LMD, the Molecular Design and Engineering (MDE) group takes accountability for the engineering and development of single and multi-specific antibodies with enhanced functionalities as well as developability profiling prior to candidate selection, to transform leads into enhanced potential therapeutics. The Advanced Antibody Formats (AAF) team sits within MDE and is involved in a wide variety of activities during the design and prosecution of non-standard mAb (multi-specifics, mAb-protein fusions etc) programmes; the team works with stakeholders to identify and evaluate novel antibody formats, performing relevant antibody engineering, molecule production and characterisation studies, develops processes so the department can accommodate advanced format molecules, and works with and advises teams on bespoke project plans. A n opportunity is now available for a lab-focused enthusiastic Associate Scientist to join AAF to support the progression of multi-specific antibody therapeutic projects and to perform technology and process development work packages. We are looking for a highly motivated and self-starting scientist who is keen to continue developing their skills in both molecular biology and protein production (from expression through to purification and protein characterisation). The successful applicant will be comfortable working as part of a team and particularly enjoy working collaboratively. We create a place where people can grow, be their best, be safe, and feel welcome, valued and included. We offer a competitive salary, an annual bonus based on company performance, healthcare and wellbeing programmes, pension plan membership, and shares and savings programme.
