Job Description:
At IPS, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people, solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. We are looking for a Lead Clean Utilities Engineer to join our team out of our office located in Birmingham, UK.
What You'll Do
1. Coordinate with project managers to determine project scope, complexity, and schedule for project development.
2. Develop project execution plans (budget, milestones, deliverables, and staffing plans) to deliver the project on time.
3. Assist clients in strategic evaluations to develop concepts supported by engineering studies for expanding, improving, or automating existing facilities.
4. Write the scope of work for process, utilities, and manufacturing controls based on preliminary reviews with the client.
5. Complete design deliverables for single unit operations through the entire facility flow including Process Flow Diagrams.
6. Material and Energy Balances, utility requirements, and Process P&IDs that include controls strategy and CIP/SIP functions, if appropriate.
7. Complete design for utilities generation and distribution systems. Generate P&IDs for critical utility systems, such as WFI, USP Purified Water, Clean Steam, and Process Gases.
8. Ensure completion of quality specifications and performance data sheets for process equipment and instrumentation.
9. Make use of and participate in the development of company design tools including process simulation and smart P&IDs (AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SuperPro, etc.).
10. Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and members of the IPS design team.
11. Estimate utility requirements for new manufacturing processes, and design utilities generation and distribution systems.
12. Perform engineering studies for expanding, improving, or automating existing facilities with limited supervision.
13. Produce specifications and performance data sheets for process equipment and instrumentation.

Qualifications & Requirements
1. Clean utility design and operations experience in pharmaceutical facilities, which include biological and organic synthesis of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and oral and parenteral Drug Products.
2. Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or relevant Engineering.
3. Knowledge of system design, applicable codes, and cGMPs as they affect process design and equipment specification.
4. Previous experience independently designing CIP/SIP, purified water (PW) systems, water for injection (WFI) systems, clean steam (CS) systems, process vacuum systems, clean air systems (such as clean compressed air, N2, O2, CO2, etc.), bio-waste killing systems and/or Pharma & Biopharma wastewater treatment systems.
5. AutoCAD for central utility drawing preparation.
Preferred Qualifications
1. REVIT or Smart P&ID.
