Job summary
The post holder will provide support to the current Stoma Care Service in providing an expert stoma nursing support and advisory service. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, implementation and evaluation of patients who require stoma formation, also working within the Bedfordshire community setting. They will assist in the supervision of nursing staff in the defined clinical area to provide highest standards of care. They will also participate in teaching sessions, audit projects and service development in liaison with the Stoma Care Team, to provide a professional, researched and evidence based practice.
Main duties of the job
To deliver a specialist stoma and colorectal care service to patients and their carers within Bedford Hospital NHS Trust and North Bedfordshire ICB .
To work closely with the colorectal surgeons and wider colorectal team to deliver a high standard of care.Maintain effective liaison and communication with medical and nursing staff involved in the care of the patient and other health care professionals as appropriate, and to report on the patient's condition and progress. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the service and the daily running of the department working collaboratively with the stoma care service and the wider MDT. Duties of the role are to be open and transparent maintaining the integrity of the excellent service.
