BEST is a not-for-profit community interest company that provides volunteering opportunities to Barnet residents using environmental initiatives, research, projects and campaigns with the aim of creating awareness through community participation.
Our projects are developed with the aim of protecting the environment and our climate through outdoor gardening activities.
Roles; (4 HOURS PER WEEK or more depending on scheduled events)
-Main point of contact with the public, responsible for managing and supervising groups of volunteers. The coordinator must be able to effectively communicate the organization’s mission with volunteers and provide frequent updates to the project manager.
-There are no specific degree requirements for this role, but having one, coursework or related work experience in areas such as non-profit administration/management, social work, and resource management are typically the most helpful in developing the leadership, conflict resolution and fund-development skills required for this position.
-Schedule volunteers for ongoing tasks, organizing and promoting events may be required
-Tracking volunteer hours and managing award programs / project in collaboration with the PM.
-Recruit Volunteers for a variety of projects or events and create Volunteer schedules to maintain business operations.
-Supervise Volunteers throughout the session
-Checking the work schedule to see which Volunteers are on duty. Greet Volunteers as they arrive and delegate tasks to them based on current needs.
-Hold meetings with Volunteers to discuss upcoming events and scheduling needs. At the end of each workday, Volunteer Coordinators log the total number of hours that each Volunteer contributed.
-Engage in meaningful communication with prospective Volunteers and persuade them to Volunteer in our projects.
-Planning and organizing events, including site selection, logistical arrangements, purchasing supplies, promoting events, scheduling and being the primary point of contact for the event.
-Other administrative and management duties as assigned.
-To publicise and promote the projects to students, residents, community groups and the general public
-To coordinate volunteer gardening sessions & delivery of a range of workshops, to encourage residents to grow and eat fruit/vegetables as well as take part in outdoor activities
-To assist with the implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems and project reporting.
-To update, contribute ideas and maintain the organisation’s social media accounts; promoting the activities and development of the projects via the website plus maintain an email mailing list of volunteers
